DENTON BIBLE CHURCH REQUIREMENTS FOR SHORT-TERM TEAMS

This trip is sponsored by Denton Bible Church. All short-term mission teams go out as representatives of Jesus, the local body of Christ in Denton, and the elders of Denton Bible Church. Due to the nature of the trip, it will be necessary to complete a background check and a volunteer screening. Applications to the trip are only approved after ministry recommendations and both checks are complete. Finally, all members of the team should have a growing faith in God and be in substantial agreement with our beliefs, doctrinal distinctives, and core values.

*I understand that I will have to complete a background check, volunteer screening, and sexual abuse awareness training to participate in this trip.
*I am in substantial agreement with the beliefs of Denton Bible Church.

DENTON BIBLE CHURCH POLICY ON SUPPORT-RAISING

  1. Participants in a Denton Bible Church short-term mission trip are responsible for raising the funds necessary to cover the cost of their participation in the trip.
  2. Support covers air and ground travel, lodging, food, ministry expenses, and international travel insurance.
  3. Support-raised funds may not be used for expenses related to personal items, tourism, immunizations, passports, etc.
  4. The total cost of a trip is based on the destination and duration of the trip.
  5. If 100 % of the individual, support-raising goal is not raised one month prior to the trip departure date, the participant will be unable to participate in the trip and will be responsible for expenses incurred for them, or on their behalf.
  6. Support is added to the team Support Account on behalf of the team, not the individual candidate. While the church will accept gifts suggested for the trip of a particular participant, the church will not accept gifts restricted or designated for a particular trip participant. (Reason: gifts restricted or designated for a particular gift participant do not qualify to receive a charitable gift acknowledgment and such gifts are not consistent with the tax-exempt status of the church.)
  7. No monies raised accrue on behalf of an individual team member or for their future use at any time. Fundraising is done on a per-trip basis unless otherwise approved by the Board of Elders.
  8. Funds raised by a team member in excess of the individual fundraising goal for a trip will be used to cover other trip expenses, including shortages of other team members.
  9. Funds raised in excess of the trip-specific fundraising goal and exceeding actual expenses may be used for future short-term missions’ needs.
  10. Participants unable to participate in a mission trip are responsible for expenses incurred for them, or on their behalf. Such expenses should be paid prior to the trip leaving.
*I have read, understand, and agree with the Denton Bible Church policy on support-raising.

DENTON BIBLE POLICY ON WRITTEN SOLICITATIONS FOR SUPPORT

Any and all printed or digital communication that solicits donations for mission trips must contain the following language:

"Contributions are solicited with the understanding that Denton Bible Church has complete discretion and control over the use of all donated funds. While we may include examples of specific uses of donated gifts, gifts given are intended to: (1) be used to glorify God by cultivating, equipping, and mobilizing Christian leaders worldwide and (2) do ministry in support of this purpose. If the ministry purpose for which these funds were solicited is unable to be fulfilled (for example, changes in safety risks, trip cancellation, or other extenuating circumstances) or there are funds in excess of those needed, the Board of Elders at Denton Bible Church may direct these funds for other ministry purposes consistent with its 501(c)(3) mission."

*I have read, understand, and agree to the Denton Bible Church policy on soliciting donations in printed or digital forms.
