Leader Covenant
As a leader for DBSM, it is important to realize the responsibility and privilege that God has granted in serving
Him. All leaders must agree with and adhere to the following standards.
Lifestyle
I will…
  • Live above reproach. (Titus 1:7)
  • Keep my word when I give it. (Proverbs 6:17; Psalms 19:14)
  • Dress modestly when at all youth functions and when around students.
    • i.e. no revealing or form fitting clothes (including tights and leggings), no low necklines or high cut shirts, no short dresses, skirts or shorts, and no revealing swimsuits. For more details see Leader Handbook. (Colossians 3:2; 1 Timothy 2:9
    • Edify students and leaders with my speech, no use of “potty” humor or foul language. (Ephesians 4:29)
    • Not view inappropriate movies with students. All movies seen with students should be researched ahead of time to make sure all scenes are suitable for viewing. When in doubt, ask the Student Ministries Director. (Romans 12:2)
    • Not use tobacco products if I am under the legal age, around students, or in public. Nor will I be addicted to any substance. (Romans 14:21)
    • In setting an example for students, limit my freedom by not consuming alcohol, privately or publicly. The only exception to this is special occasions. It is still NOT allowed openly in Denton or Denton Country regardless of the occasion. (Romans 14)
    • Drive safely and obey the law with students around.
      • “What you do in moderation, students do in excess.” ~Keith Chancey
      • Never be alone with students in private. (Proverbs 2:11)
      • Only give a single student a ride in my car with the consent of their parents. (Proverbs 2:11)
      • Not post anything considered inappropriate or potentially damaging to my ministry or reputation as a DBSM Leader.
      • Commit to follow God’s design for the gift of sexuality in that it is to be exercised and enjoyed only within the covenant relationship of marriage between one man and one woman.
      • Lead a life of transparency which should include the self-disclosure of internal sin struggles or external engagement of behaviors to DBSM.
      • Ministry
        I will…
        • Stay focused on ministry while with my students. (Matthew 18:6)
        • Follow through with what I say I will do. (Ephesians 2:10)
        • Support decisions and submit to the discretion of the Denton Bible Student Ministries staff and the DBSM Director and seek to uplift the ministry. (Philippians 2:14-15a)
        • Pray for the students, the youth group, the leaders, and the staff on a regular basis. (Ephesians 6:18)
        • I have read the above expectations and agree to live by them. I have prayed about the decision and feel that it is God’s will for me to be a leader with Denton Bible Student Ministries.
